How to Participate in the Parade
Hundreds of pets and their owners dressed in outrageous and fanciful costumes take part in the Kiwanis Pet Parade. All types of pets are welcome. Children without pets are encouraged to dress in costume. There is no registration or fee to participate in the parade. Participants lineup by category beginning at 9:30 AM in the staging area located on Coolidge and Apple Streets (near Coolidge/McClaine Park).
If you are interested in participating ‒ please see the Lineup By Category list and the Staging Area Map. The Parade starts promptly at 10:00 AM on Coolidge Street and travels along Main Street to First Street ending at the new Civic Center site. Groups are encouraged to identify themselves with a banner or sign. We ask all participants to march spaced and no more than two side by side. Remember—we want to see you and your pets! All participating children receive a “goodie bag” courtesy of our Parade Sponsors. |
Vehicles and Large Animal Trailers
All parade vehicles and large animal/horse trailers access the staging area via Fiske Street. Please see the Parade Staging Area Map for vehicle lineup and staging area access. For participant’s safety, and protection of the animals, a complete street closure of Coolidge, Apple, Jerome and Charles streets will be put in place by the Silverton Police Department. Large animals unload from their trailers at the city park. For parade safety, motorized vehicles are required to review and follow the Parade Procedures document located on this page.
